Ideally, the classroom teacher will be the primary assessor
of the newly integrated software, with direction and assistance from
administrators and lead technology staff in the school. As well, the students
will be included in the evaluation process as they will be asked for their
feedback on the software via think aloud protocol (Cook, 2006), as well as a
student evaluation survey. The evaluation will be completed using a
pre-developed checklist (see Model Evaluation Checklist) relevant to the Grade 9
Newfoundland and Labrador Social Studies Curriculum. The evaluation will be
completed at varying intervals early after the software introduction. In the
event that technology support staff is not available to assist in the software
installation and evaluation, the evaluation is to be completed entirely by the
teacher using the online evaluation checklist, anecdotal records from the think
aloud protocol, and student evaluation/feedback forms.
