2005-2007 I achieved Honours status in earning a Master of Education (Information Technology) Degree offered jointly through MUN and UCB.
2000-2001 I graduated on the Dean’s List from Memorial University’s Bachelor of Education Degree Program (Intermediate/Secondary).
1994-2000 I completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in English, a second major in Philosophy, and a minor in Folklore.
2001 Internship I taught English Language Arts to grade eight and nine students at St. Peter’s Jr. High in Mt. Pearl, NF under the guidance and supervision of Mr. David Thistle, ELA Department Head. 
1990-1994  I successfully graduated from Clarenville Integrated High School, Clarenville, NF.

2005-Present

Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary, Lourdes

I taught Grade 8 Language and Social Studies as well as Grade 5 Mathematics and some Religion and Health at the Grade 8 Level in 2005-2006.

I taught Grade 6 Language, Math, Social Studies, Science, Religion and Health in the 2006-2007 School Year.

Currently, I am employed at this school as the Grade 7 Teacher and as the Jr. High Technology Teacher (see list for current subjects).

 

2001-2005

St. Joseph’s All Grade, Croque

I was employed at this school as a Jr. and Sr. High teacher.  I taught Social Studies, English Language Arts, and Technology courses.  In addition, I was the System Administrator for the school’s computer network and Webmaster for the school’s website.

2005-2007 I delivered technology based inservices during three separate close-out days to the staffs of Lourdes Elementary and Our Lady of the Cape.  The topics were:  Slide-Shows (Corel Presentations), Spreadsheeting (Open Office Calc.),  Write Traits / English Language Arts Rubrics / CRT Preparation, and FirstClass
2005-Present I am a member of  the Technology in Education Special Interests Council (TESIC)
2005-2006 I am the chairperson of the Technology in Education Committee at Lourdes Elementary
2005-2006 I am a member of the Lourdes Elementary Literacy Committee
2004 I served as Chief Organizer for the 2004 Regional Drama Festival:  Acting Out in 2004!
2004 I served as Secretary for the St. Joseph's All Grade School Council.
2002-2003 I served as the Chairperson for the St. Joseph's All Grade School Council.
2002-2005 I opened the Computer Lab and Library at St. Joseph's All Grade for general community use from 8:00pm - 9:00 pm every Tuesday.
2002-2003 I served as an advisory member of FINALY -- a youth driven and oriented organization for the province.
2000-2005 I sat as the Executive Vice President and Chairperson for Grassroots Development for the Newfoundland and Labrador Shooting Association until 2004. 

 

Work Related Skills                                                                                                Top

·         I am well versed in the use of Literature Circles and maintain a virtual discussion forum on the Internet.

·         I am proficient at website design and management.  I have designed, in addition to this site, the St. Joseph's All Grade site, the Lourdes Elementary site, various academic sites and websites for businesses (ex: Something Special -- view the mirror site). 

·         I have a strong background in Theatre Arts – I represented the province as lead actor in Killed, July 16th, 1917 a play that was presented at the 1990 National High School Drama Festival; I attended the Adult Provincial Drama Festival in 1993; I have acted in, directed, and written various award winning plays.

·         I am very friendly and easy to work/get along with.

·         I am a writer— I have had my work published in two student anthologies at MUN: Twig (1998) and With an Image of Grace (1999).

·         I am experienced in web-design and I am very proficient at using the internet both as a tool for communication and for research.

·         I am experienced in different forms of multi-media.  I co-directed a 40-minute documentary entitled: Cruisin’ With the Boys: A Study of “Bay Cars” and Their Owners in Outport Newfoundland (2000).

·        I can relate to other people, I have no trouble speaking in public and I am experienced in giving formal presentations to large groups of people.

 

Hobbies and Interests                                                                                             Top

  •  I am an Expert Class Olympic Style Shooter and a former member of the MUN Seahawks Shooting Team. I was the 2001 Provincial Air Rifle Shooting Champion. I currently coach the Tempest Shooting Team.

  •  I enjoy reading, writing and viewing all sorts of literature, from books to movies – I love to learn.

  • I study philosophical texts and theories.

  • I am a skilled woodworker and craftsperson.   

  • I enjoy playing Golf.  

  • I study and play the game of Chess.

  • I enjoy working with computers -- I am quickly learning a great deal about programming in multiple languages such as Java and vbscript.

  • I participated as a member of a special projects team for Technology Development with the Western School District in January, 2006.

  • As an ICLT participant for 2004-2005, I attended an inservice for ICLT on December 2 and 3 of 2004.

  • I have been trained to use and deliver school-based workshops for The Real Game Program (2002)

  • I attended a Grade 9 English Language Arts CRT Information Workshop (2003)
